POEM: Some Other Place

Let me tell of a place, a symbol of grace;
Where trust was erased for a man to save face.

Some hope has died, now lives a lie.
Reconciliation was tried, but the cost was so high.

Kindred spirits are now gone. A new day has dawn;
On your own and all alone.

Everyday looks like the rest; men's integrity put to test.
Will this place be blessed as some suggest?

What is truth and true has become taboo.
Fear and money form the glue that holds together the crew.

You are the reason we are here, but we still remain so insincere.
We appear to draw our hearts near, while secretly holding fear and tear.

O GOD of wonder and grace, we are men who blunder and chase
After things of earth and pride; things of little worth inside.

POEM: Today

The cloud of witnesses, we adore,
Have stood in our place sometime before.
Surprised they're not by the way we fail,
But they wonder whether we will prevail.

Life and reward are promised to no man;
Regardless of one's lofty goals or strategic plan.
In prayer, we ask GOD to bless,
But wrongs and sins, we don't confess.

What our future holds remains unsure,
Best we confess our need for wisdom and not act immature.
How many lives will be tossed aside
Because of our self-righteousness and our pride?

We can so easily justify all our actions
Under a banner that gives the mind satisfaction.
FOR Christ and His Kingdom is a crusader's pledge
That can take any organization right over the edge.

Great GOD, who can easily direct men's hearts
Who desires us for Himself to be set apart,
Save us from our own folly and the pit we have dug.
What we desire from this life is like an addictive drug.
