POEM: How the Mighty have Fallen!

How the Mighty have Fallen!
Dare we look upon their lives disgraced.
For we have sped as they have raced.
Where have their values gotten lost?
Why do so many seem to pay the cost?

How the Mighty stay the Same.
See how they continue without any change.
Life lived another way would for them seem so strange.
Relationships change with an ever-increasing pace.
Brokenness is something they seem never willing to face.

How the Mighty are Darken.
For awhile a lie becomes the truth.
It is the same one they told since their youth.
Their optimism distorts what is real.
The purpose of truth is to reveal.

How the Mighty have Hope.
God allows us to suffer the results of our own stupidity.
But He can open our eyes to see with clarity.
If we will only release our grip on our favorite sins,
Perhaps life would seem to have less losses and a few more wins.

POEM: The Pain and the Love

Pain hurts. Oh, how it stings!
The foolishness of man over all these things.
We grab for wants we do not need.
Warnings to the contrary, we do not heed.

Hardship and loss bring pain to life.
Selfishness causes one to live in strive.
Following God closely will not eliminate the pain,
But discipline means to teach and to train.

When in pain, we are tempted to doubt God's goodwill.
Evil forces are at work to destroy and to kill.
God's love is proven through the woodsheds of life.
Ask for understanding as discipline cuts like a knife.

God remains deeply concerned about us
Whether we are in the right seat or even on the bus.
The next time pain comes and life is a zoo,
Be patient and confident in God to show you what to do.

POEM: The Land of Dragons and Lost Horizons

A friend of mine left this kingdom one day
To seek her fortune across the bay.
Headed for a new land with excitement in her heart
Where opportunities were limitless promising a new start.

Unknown to her, appearing as stone,
Were dragons asleep and full-grown.
Upon her arrival, the day shone bright
Greeted with kind words and smiling faces; everything seemed right.

With a trust in God and the people there,
For a while, problems were overcome with hard work and flare.
The dragons which slumbered were now awake,
Watching her every move, noting every mistake.

Patient and silent, they plotted their next move
Against her plans and motives of which they did not approve.
Unfortunately there were no white knights in shining armor
To come to her aid or to give her cover.

Plans once laid now are hatched;
With fear and intimidation, dreams can be snatched.
Dragons act together with one voice
To silence the hope of a dreamer is their choice.

The land across the bay has indeed left its mark.
A place difficult for eagles, but dragons enjoy the dark.
A day will come when each dragon will answer for their part
And stand before the King on the white horse with a pure heart.

Where were the strong who should be protecting the weak?
Why were words of untruth allowed to leak?
Where were the wise who are gifted to teach?
All silenced in too much details so no one could speak.
